Meet The Founder
Dr. Anjelica Hart, EdD Founder & Director

Dr. Anjelica Hart is an educator, higher education leader, researcher, and mental health professional with more than a decade of experience spanning psychology, student support, wellness, academic administration, disability services, and community-based mental health.
She currently serves as Department Chair of Social and Behavioral Sciences, where she provides academic leadership in psychology, sociology, and related disciplines. Her higher education leadership experience also includes service as Interim Dean of Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Education, where she supported faculty, academic programs, student success, and divisional operations.
Her professional career began in direct-service mental health and social services. She first worked as a domestic violence family advocate and case manager, supporting individuals and families navigating crisis, safety concerns, and community resources. She later worked with at-risk youth in alternative education, gaining experience in behavioral support, advocacy, student development, and intervention. These early roles helped shape her long-standing commitment to mental health, resilience, access, and student well-being.
Dr. Hart earned a Doctor of Education in Educational Psychology and Technology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Her doctoral dissertation, Learning Through Minecraft: A Phenomenological Study on Game-Based Instruction in Higher Education, examined the use of game-based instruction within higher education and helped lay the foundation for her later work integrating psychology, technology, and interactive learning.
Her professional contributions have been recognized through several honors, including the Southern University System Board of Supervisors Above and Beyond Award, the NISOD Excellence Award, and recognition as a 40 Under Forty honoree. She is also a presented a TEDx titled, “The Traveling Suitcase: Unpacking My Mental Luggage,” a talk centered on resilience, reflection, and the emotional experiences individuals carry throughout life.
Dr. Hart’s background across mental health, higher education leadership, psychology, student advocacy, and educational technology provides the professional foundation for her work as Founder & Director of PsyGamify.
